Full speed ahead in rough seas, rapid firing the two forward twin 5-inch guns, then hard a-port, and the gunners keep turning and firing the forward guns at the target. Then the two after twin 5-inch guns are brought to bear also rapid firing at the target, now all four guns are rapid firing, then pulling away from the target with the two after twin 5-inch guns firing until out of range. A destroyer's superstructure is thin so the concussion from the guns was enough that you can actually see the bulkheads move in and out with each volley. The noise and vibration shaking your whole body while bouncing around in rough seas was thrilling. I'm 70 years old and would do it all again.",
